RYAN MEINEKE, Co-Founder
Born and raised in Stockton, California, Ryan is a 25-year fire service veteran
Starting his career with the Emeryville Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic and moving to the Oakland Fire Department in 2000 and promoted through the ranks to his current position of Captain/Paramedic.
Throughout his career, Ryan worked in some of the busiest firehouses in the districts giving him a practical understanding of the high carcinogen exposure risks associated with the life of a professional firefighter and the need for measures for cancer prevention and education.
DAN SLONE, Co-Founder
Firefighter / Paramedic, born in Oakland, California and raised in Fremont
As a 1988 graduate of Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, and subsequently earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chico State University, completing a Doctor of Chiropractic degree program from Life Chiropractic College West, together with 15 years of service with the Oakland Fire Department, Dan brings his breadth of experience to co-found OFCPF.
Dan’s experiences give him a unique perspective of fire department risks and current safety protocols and how to advocate to reduce on the job hazards and exposures.
Together Ryan and Dan form a productive partnership in the development and creation
of the Oakland Firefighters Cancer Prevention Foundation.
